Khiri Voyages To Target Discerning Thai Leisure Travellers

BANGKOK, 19 October 2009 — The Bangkok-based Khiri Travel Group will this week launch a new company called Khiri Voyages. The new entity will supply a deliberately limited high quality range of overseas holidays direct to residents of Thailand.

Khiri Voyages will specialize in authentic travel to Bhutan, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, Korea, Indochina and Kenya. The company is the first business-to-consumer unit of Khiri Travel Group, a B2B travel trade group specializing in providing tour operator services to in Thailand and Indochina.

Khiri Voyages founder, Ms Kritsana Harasarn, said: “Our range of destinations is confined to countries where we have the best contacts and cultural insights. We will use the 15 years’ of experience within the Khiri Travel Group to deliver foreign culture, history and nature in a responsible way. What we’re offering is the opposite of the ‘five European countries in seven days’ way of travel.

The company’s inaugural trip will be a spiritual merit making and folk music trip from Bangkok to southern Laos via Ubon Rachathani, 22-26 October. Thai folk band Caravan will join the trip and play a mini concert for guests in southern Laos. The rest of the outing will be dedicated to visiting spectacular waterfalls such as Lee Phee and Tadfane as well as temples and local markets.

“In 2010 we expect the number of Thais travelling abroad to increase quite a lot,” said Ms Kritsana. “There is a new proliferation of specialist travel sites on the internet and highly informed travel blogs. Thais now want authentic travel. Khiri Voyages is being positioned to meet the needs of discerning travellers.”
